Client Project — Website + Online Booking & Fixed-Price Engine
SM Waste Services
Pick a size → see the fixed price → choose a slot → the crew texts on the way. Thirty area pages so the search from any town lands on its own page.

SM Waste Services is a family-run rubbish removal and clearance crew based in Wishaw, working across Glasgow and both Lanarkshires: same-day slots, two-person crews, a SEPA waste-carrier registration on every page and a 4.6 Google rating from 75 reviews, as the site shows them. The website’s job was to take the one question every caller asks — what will it cost? — and answer it on the screen, then let them book the slot without speaking to anyone. Fifty-five pages, a five-step booking flow with a live price, and a page for every town the van drives to.

The challenge
Rubbish removal is bought in a hurry and compared on price, and every competitor hides the price behind “call for a quote”. The site had to publish fixed prices without a weighing game, turn them into a booking someone completes on a phone in a minute, cope with the jobs that don’t fit a van-load (a photo instead), and be the page that ranks when someone in Airdrie or Rutherglen searches for their own town.
What we built
A booking flow with the price on screen
Five steps: what, size, when, details, confirm. The price sits in a panel beside the form and changes as you choose — £59 for an eighth of a van up to £259 for a full one, or per item for a sofa or a fridge. No account, free cancellation up to 24 hours, and a text when the crew is on the way.
Two ways to pay, both published
A pricing page that says “no weighing games” and means it: five van loads with volume, bag count, weight and loading time for each, and a per-item list from a footstool to a corner sofa with 15% off each additional item.
A photo when a van load isn’t the answer
The quote page takes photos, a postcode and a timeframe, promises a reply within the hour, and points at WhatsApp for people who’d rather send the picture that way. The homepage says outright when the council uplift will be cheaper.
Thirty towns, each with its own page
Every area page carries the postcodes, the council, the drive time from the Wishaw base, what gets cleared there and why, the same fixed prices, and questions from that town. East Kilbride’s talks about integral garages; the West End’s about tenement stairs.
Key user journeys
A garage full of junk on a Saturday morning
Search “rubbish removal East Kilbride” → the East Kilbride page → Book online → pile of mixed waste, half load £159, a slot this afternoon → confirmation and a text when the van leaves Wishaw
A landlord with a flat to clear
House clearance page → not sure of the size → Send photos instead → fixed price back within the hour → keys collected from the agent, waste transfer note emailed after
A joiner with site waste every fortnight
Trade & builders’ waste page → account and invoice options → trade account sign-in for repeat bookings
Key capabilities
- Instant fixed price that updates as the booking is built — by van load or by item

- Photo-led quote with an under-an-hour reply promise, and WhatsApp as the shortcut
- Thirty area pages with local detail, drive time and postcodes — not one template with the town swapped

- SEPA registration number and a digital waste transfer note promised on every job
- Four dated guides written from the van: prices, council uplift, house clearance, skip versus man-and-van
Visual walkthrough

Three steps, said plainly: book in sixty seconds, a two-person crew turns up and loads, everything is recycled and documented. The waste transfer note is the part a landlord or a business actually needs.

The areas index: seven council areas, thirty towns, each with its postcodes and the drive time from the Wishaw base. Every one of them is a page, not a line.
Technical approach
- Hand-built, statically rendered pages — fast on a phone, which is where someone with a pile of junk is standing.
- One pricing engine feeds the homepage widget, the booking flow, the pricing page and every service and area page, so a price can never disagree with itself.
- A five-step booking flow that keeps the running price in view and never asks for an account; a separate photo route for jobs that don’t fit a size.
- Local-business structured data with geo, opening hours and every served town, and thirty area pages cross-linked to nearby ones and to the services.
- Trade account sign-in and a team login, kept behind an essential cookie the site is honest about in its own banner.
What this demonstrates
The full trades playbook in one site: published fixed prices, a booking flow that closes the job without a phone call, a photo route for everything else, and a page for every town. The same discipline as TransScot’s quote app and Avram’s area pages, joined up.
