WordPress web design in Glasgow — when it’s the right tool, and honestly when it isn’t.

Most agencies sell WordPress to everyone. We use it where a business genuinely needs to publish and edit its own content — set up lean, kept fast, with the technical SEO done — and we’ll say plainly when a hand-built site would serve you better. One of our best-known projects runs on it.

WordPress or hand-built? The honest test.

The question isn’t which is better — it’s how often you’ll change the site, and who will do it.

WordPress fits when…
You’ll publish guides, news or offers yourself every week or two; several people need to edit; the site is a content operation as much as a shopfront. TransScot publishes moving guides constantly — WordPress was the right call.
Hand-built fits when…
The site changes a few times a year and you’d rather send us a line than log into anything. Faster, no plugin updates, nothing to break — and small changes are covered by the care plan.
Either way, the system is separate
Quotes, bookings and portals are built as their own application and linked from the site. WordPress does the marketing; the system does the work. Plugins get you a form, not a system.

A Glasgow WordPress site, paired with a custom system.

TransScot Removals: a lean WordPress marketing site on GeneratePress, publishing new moving guides all the time, with a separate custom quoting and video-survey application doing the heavy lifting.

01Do you recommend WordPress?

Sometimes. When a business needs to publish and edit content itself every week — guides, news, offers — WordPress set up properly is a good fit, and TransScot runs on it for exactly that reason. When a site is a well-structured shopfront that changes a few times a year, a hand-built site is faster, more secure, and cheaper to keep alive. We'll tell you which you are.

02What does 'set up properly' mean?

A lightweight theme and blocks rather than a page-builder sandwich, as few plugins as the job allows, images optimised, caching and security configured, automatic updates handled, and the technical SEO done — structured data, sitemap, Search Console. Most slow WordPress sites are slow because of what was bolted on, not because of WordPress.

03Can WordPress handle a booking or quote system?

Not well, in our experience — plugins get you a form, not a system. On TransScot the WordPress site does the marketing and a separate custom application does the quoting and video surveys. That split is usually the right answer: use each tool for what it's genuinely good at.

04What does a WordPress site cost?

The same published starting points as any website: from £595. Hosting for WordPress is priced on the same care-plan terms, and you own the site and its content outright.
